The Billings Farm & Museum is a living museum of Vermont's rural past, but it is just that. Sadly, dairy farming is no longer viable in Vermont except if the animals are treated as economic units and housed in confined stalls.

You won't find animals being treated that way at Billings Farm. Instead the atmosphere is bucolic . You'll see a farm operating as farms operated in the past when life was less complicated.

Billings Farm is a great place to take the kids if you are an urban dweller and want to look into the past, but remember..dairy farms are not really like this anymore and are highly mechanized.
