What Stowe Mountain does provide the Christmas and New Year's visitor is an atmosphere. Management makes sure that as many intermediate and beginner trails are open so that you can ``cruise down those slopes." The staff are trained well to be very polite and helpful. Customer service couldn't be better. And while there is no Brahms or Beethoven playing in the rest rooms, as is done at a place like Snowmass, the rest rooms are not cattle barns as they are at some resorts.
When you are hungry why not dine at the top of the mountain. A hamburger, a hot apple cider and a coffee will likely set you back $20.00 including tip. But again, the service is impeccable, the atmosphere genteel. Stowe has a reputation for that. It is a pity other resorts haven't realized this!
