The Willoughby River near Orleans in early October.
This river runs north about 15 miles from Lake Willoughby to Lake Memphremagog. It is a favorite of fishermen. In mid April you can sit on the rocks and watch Rainbow Trout jump up the river to spawn in Lake Willoughby. It is also a good spot to go in the fall as you can see here. To reach this access area from I-91, take the Orleans exit and go east through the village of Orleans towards Lake Willoughby. Just as you are leaving Orleans, there is a road to your left which goes to the Oldl Stone House in Brownington. Cross a narrow bridge and park in the Choiniere-Willoughby access parking lot . Walk back towards the bridge and down a lane to the river. There are some steps down into the river.
