Northwest Vermont
Today I rode routes 108, 120 and 105 in northwest Vermont on my way to work. It wasn’t a very good day to check out the foliage. It was rainy and misty. I really couldn’t see how well the foliage was out past 300 yards. Route 108 north from route 15 in Jeffersonville to Bakersfield was so-so. That area has a lot of evergreen trees. What color I could see was pretty good. There were reds and oranges showing. About Bakersfield things were better. Lots of color and a good amount of red and orange. It was even better from Enosburg Falls to route 120 in Franklin. ( don’t go north of route 120 or you’ll end up in Canada > Parlez-vous Francais.eh?) Route 120 had some great color. One spot between Lake Carmi and Franklin Village positively glowed. Route 105 from route 120 west to St.Albans was hard to read. That is rolling farmland with big fields. The trees were out past my viewing range with the mist. What I could see look real good. I think this trip will be good for folks looking for good foliage with some ohhs and ahhs mixed in. It might disappoint diehard shutterbugs like IXL and maybe me. But we shutterbugs like the back roads, and the back roads should at least as good as the main roads.
Re: Northwest Vermont
Thanks for the info....I would have thought that all of Northern Vermont was done. I will try to get up that way. Wish I had more than three days...actually two when you consider driving up and back from NJ....

Re: Northwest Vermont
When route 120 ends at route 105, instead of turning right or left, go straight ahead on the paved secondary road. Follow that road to the end and turn right. Drive to the end in Sheldon and turn left. This road may be called Main Street in Sheldon, but it will changes names in each town it goes through. Drive this road south to the stop sign for route 36. After you stop continue straight ahead. Drive until the road ends as the Pumpkin Harbor Road at route 15 in Cambridge,VT. These roads are paved secondary roads that are close as you can get to back roads without the dirt. If you turn right on route 15 west you will end up in Winooski and I-89.
