Oh great! Just where we will be at Shelburne. Thanks for the heads up. How can we get to Hwy 2 that goes through the Lake Champlain Islands? Looking at the map, I see a road that goes east from Shelburne Falls to 116 and then if I go north I could get on 2A. Will that work? We were also going to visit the Shelburne Country Store on Rt 7 but don't have to do that if it's right in the middle of a construction mess. Do you know where it is? Thanks a bunch!

bm... how's the color in the area looking down from Mt. Philo now? If I am going to go that way I need to decide in the next 24 hrs probably. Thanks. --c

Thanks bm. I just changed our lodging to Colchester to get us out of the Shelburne area. Instead of the country store, I think we will try to see those snow geese. Thanks for that info. I would have never known about that if it wasn't for this great forum! So now I am looking at the map(I don't have an atlas) to get us to Colchester from Vergennes. Do you know about the road from Vergennes northeast to Monkton Ridge? Then north to Hineburg and on 2a to Colchester. I don't mind going out of the way if it's a good ride. Sorry to be such a pain. We leave early tomorrow and I really need to get these routes nailed down!

That's my favorite "shortcut" to the Vergennes area. If there is any color it will be a nice ride.
