Check out the South Kirby area (via the Kirby Mtn Road out of East Lyndon) once you get over the ridge you are facing East/Southeast. There should be some good spots in the general vicinity of the intersection Kirby Mtn Road and Ranney Hill Rd for some Sunrise shots. Might even be able to line up Mt Washington with the rising sun. According to Google Earth, the sun will be rising a little after 6:00.faxmachineanthem wrote:10/2 driving up to NEK (Lyndonville area)

I'd be happy to meet for a sunrise shoot. Peacham or Owl's Head are nice spots within "commuting" distance for me. Maybe even Lake Willoughby, although I've never been there for sunrise.

Hi From_the_NEK,
I actually did make it to that spot last year and will go back again this year. In fact I think I went there based on your advice, which was very helpful to me last year. It was cloudy when I went, but I thought it could also make a nice late afternoon spot for photos if the sun is out, as the sun would illuminate these views facing east.
I know this is South Kirby... pretty sure it was the Kirby Mtn Road/Ramney Hill Road. Correct me if I'm wrong!

Exactly the place I was referring too. Awsome shots! This spot should be good for both sunrise and for late afternoon. But not too late as the shadows will creep in here quickly on the East side of the mtn. I would get there no later than 4:15. If it is clear enough. Mount Washington is on the horizon directly behind the Lone Pine Barn. Bonus points if it is snow covered!
