we luv vermont

We are home after a magical four days in the beautful Green mountain state of mind. My wife and I have never enjoyed a vacation as much. The foliage of course an a plus...but everything was so laid back and the people were friendly and I could go on and on. As for anyone reading this and still contemplating a fall foliage trip, I noticed that there are still many trees in the Burlington area still green...so I guess, even if some trees drop their leaves, there will still be some color to be seen for a couple of weeks. But, once again let me say what a great trip we had and thanks to Vermont for being Vermont.

I agree joemagic. I just returned as well. Burlington is always the last to change so if all else fails, people missing color in other parts could see color in Burlington. I too welcome the laid back feeling in Vermont. As I was driving in the Houston traffic today, I thought these people need to go drive in Vermont and see how driving should be. I tend to be a much more courteous driver after being in Vermont a few days.
I treasure my yearly trip to Vermont as a stress relief.

I have a place in Vermont, let me tell you how bad it can get. I met my wife 4 years ago, after a year we went up to Bridgewater Corners, Vermont. Never been out of the South before. Well, when we crossed into Vermont and I saw the most beautiful farm, I was hooked. Now we come up at least 2 times a year and sometimes 3!! I cant wait till I can come up and fish for trout for a few months a year. This place will grow on you fast!!

You are right about wanted to go back. Sounds like Vermont will have to expand their borders in a few years to accomodate all of us planning to go for months at a time. That is my goal after retirement. Rent a house for a month in the fall and just sick back and take in the laid back lifestyle. Heaven on Earth.

We are blessed, too have inherited 75 acres with a barn that is close to 200 years old. The property is one of the first established in Bridgewater. Has been in the family since 1930. Saw a Black bear and deer and at least a dozen turkeys. I love this place, cant wait to retire and fish!

One nice thing about Vermont is that change happens so slowly here, and will continue to do so for the forseeable future.
Our adopted home has an organic beauty that has groown iover the last two and a half centuries, and can never be reproduced by corporate "imagineering". Small town life in America is all but a thing of the past in every state but Vermont. We ,may be behind the times to some, even downright quieky, but to us timelessness is more valuable than the "convenience" of strip malls.
------------------
Aleks & Michiko Hunter
Old Town Farm Inn
665 Vt.
