White Mountains Fall Trip

My "best guess" would be both NEK (the southern portion) and Stowe to Killington. MY travels there were all of 35 years ago (used to have a sales rep route that took me from the Barre-Montpelier area through St. Johnsbury into NH and then south on 10 to Woodsville and Haverhill and then back into VT. I would consider that White Mountains. My recollection is that took me either through, or somewhere near Franconia Notch.
The famed "Kancamagus" Scenic Byway is actually South of there a bit and directly east from Waits River, Corinth, etc. which would be more South of Stowe, a bit Southeast from Montpelier and still a fair way north of Killington.

Hi pwt,
I have changed the dates to October 2,3,4 as per your suggestion some days back.
Any updates on how White Mountains Region (Kanc and notches) will be around that time.
What I read from NH fall report is the area is still pretty green. Just wondering whether color will turn up good in just 10 days.
Also, what is the best way to reach Glen,nh from New Jersey.
Google maps shows 2 options I-93 and I-91. Which one will be better
Regards,
rK.

thanks pwt.
On last day of my trip I plan to start from Glen drive on Mount washington toll road.
After the toll road I plan to return to NJ(home)
Now from Mount Washington I have 2 choices to reach I93.
1. Drive north on Rt 16 to Gorham and reach twin mountain via route 2, and 115
2. return to glen and reach twin mountain via 302 through Crawfford Notch.
From Twin mountain I will be taking I93 to home
Is the Gorham option(option 1 )worth it or should I stick to crawford notch

while going back home in NJ from Gorham NH I would be passing through vermont to join I-87 south in NY .
Any good roads that connect I-91 and I-87 which will have peak colors on October 4th.
I looked at map and there are a couple of roads US-4 and Route-9. which one would be good . I am open for any other roads.
Please advise.
