Vermont Fall Church Suppers: You'll Love Them!
One of my favorite things to do in Vermont is to attend the fall church suppers in various towns. My most enjoyable one was the NEK Fall Foliage Festival’s Groton Chicken Pie Supper. I made my reservations during the summer for the seating. It’s usually a complete sell out but I am sure there is room at some of the seatings. I included the link below with the reservation form for that purpose. It is Saturday, October 3rd.
http://www.nekchamber.com/pages/5261/Gr ... Supper.htm
Sitting at one of the many long tables with mostly locals from the area and the church, we met so many nice folks who gave us a multitude of routes and places to visit in the NEK. There were a handful of tourists there as well, growing every year I’m sure. What a great evening! Everyone made us feel at home. Wish I could go again in October, but it is the day of our reunion.
Here is a very popular one that I seem to miss every year!

Richmond Congregational Church Chicken Pie Supper
Richmond Congregational Church
20 Church St
Richmond, Vermont (VT) 05477
(handicapped accessible)
Time(s): 4:30, 5:30, 6:30, 7:30 pm — Fee(s): Yes
This traditional supper has been held for the last 61 years to celebrate the fall harvest and foliage season.
For more, see www.rccucc.org or call 802-434-2516.
I grew up going to church suppers around my state and still enjoy them today but especially in Vermont during the fall. It is a nice option if you don’t want to hit restaurants every night. Plus, if you like sitting with and meeting new people, eating a delicious home-cooked meal and incredible desserts all at an affordable price, this is for you!
Most local papers have the church suppers listed. Pick one up when you get into town. I will add to this thread as I find them, but if you have a favorite one or find some details for a church supper or game supper please add to the list!
Try it. You’ll get hooked!

Love the chicken pie suppers! PWT first gave me the tip several years ago for which I am eternally grateful. We are hoping to get to one again this year. So far I've found one in Waitsfield on Sept 26th at the United Church and one in Waterbury Center at the Congregational Church Oct. 1st but that's before we're coming. There's also one at the Waterbury Congregational Church on the 9th. I think that's the one we'll hit. Last year two of the churches on Main Street had them within days of each other...can't remember what the other church was...Methodist maybe?
Chicken Pot Pie!!
Here is one for you. I took this pic while bouncing around in Vermont last year. This church had a Chicken Pot Pie Supper. The supper was on Oct 6 located in West Danville as the signs indicates. You never know what you will come across in Vermont. Man! I can still remember the aroma of those pies!

Hi Susan: Thanks for the added info. I'll try to find details on the suppers and post them if you don't mind. I'm glad you also enjoyed the suppers. Not only is the food scrumptious but they are fun and I love meeting new people!
If you find more, please add and I would be happy to search for the details. What ones have you been to in the past? Are there any that stand out in your mind that others would enjoy?
GIC: What a gorgeous picture! So typical of the season in Vermont. It makes me feel like jumping into your picture and sitting at a table with my chicken pie! And those desserts...... I think I'll try to lose a few pounds now in the anticipation!
With the church bell, the foliage, the seasonal decorations at the door, the American flag, the haybales, wow, it's so inviting! Step right in! Great shot! I just love it - so New England!
I'll be in Danville overnight for a couple of days starting on the 4th after the Autumn on the Green event. Maybe I'll see if they have one going on around then! Thanks for the picture!

Ok Jaspal and everyone! Get your appetites ready! I got a bunch of details on some of the suppers Susan mentioned and also more!
PLEASE call ahead and confirm my information. I try not to make mistakes and sometimes, there is web info that may be off a tad. Also, be aware of church changes as well. Best to call the numbers listed!
Some of these suppers have prices listed and some have menus. Not all.
I'm still trying to call the West Danville Church to find out about their chicken pie supper as they no longer have a functional website and I want to go! Stay tuned!
ENJOY! There are 7 listed below in addition to the 2 on the original post.

I had some trouble finding info on it. Huge and full of fall crafts that were incredibly affordable. We stopped there on the spur of the moment heading home. Big mistake! I am a magnet for fall foliage craft fairs and festivals! Got home VERY late due to too much shopping there!

I've done some more checking around and below is a list of church suppers from the NEK Fall Foliage Festivals. I’ve extrapolated from the various descriptions of each town the info you need for the dinners. Hope I didn’t butcher it! Some have luncheons and I left those in for the perpetually hungry (me included!). I have already highlighted Groton’s supper so that is left out of the towns participating in the week long festival.

Hi Jaspal! Nice to see you back on the forum! Unfortunately, I was so busy this season I didn't get to go to any of the church suppers I posted here! Hope you can come back to Vermont in the near future!
If by chance anyone went to any of the suppers, it would be nice to hear if you enjoyed them and would recommend them. I'll try to get together another list for next year around September.
Here is a very popular church supper I found on Danville's website. Wish I were closer!
November 19th - The Game Supper in Danville - 4 PM.
“The Danville Methodist Game Supper, begun in 1921, is not only the oldest game supper in Vermont, but considered by many to be one of the finest in the region. Once featured in Yankee Magazine's Book of Special New England Days, the game supper takes place on the Thursday before Thanksgiving at the Danville United Methodist Church on the southwest corner of the Green. Meat pies are featured, typically venison, moose , bear, coon, beaver, rabbit, and chicken. The tables groan with side dishes, squash, potato, glazed carrots, green beans, cranberry sauce, coleslaw, and pickles, topped off with dinner rolls, coffee, and homemade dessert pies. Reservations maybe made by emailing Toby within a month of the event.”
