Hi reunion friends!!!

What's left to decide now is the meeting time and where we will meet up, what we are bringing in to Lewis Pond to eat for lunch (pot luck picnic?) and where we are eating dinner in the NEK.

At the parade, Carol and PWT were thinking of possible places we could eat after our excursion. We'll all be hungry!

Is 10:30 a.m. a decent time to meet by the way? What is a good central meeting point?

Just some thoughts to get us back on track............ It's just 3 1/2 months away! :D

Hello again, everyone! Go ahead and plan without me. If my property sells and I end up having a few nickels to rub together, I'll be there and may bring both kids. If not, we'll still be in Oregon during the reunion.

Cross your fingers for me!

I'm still thinking about the meeting place. Island Pond Village would be a logical place. The only rstuarant is Jennifer's. It's okay. I like the 2 places in Canaan better, but it's the long way to Lewis Pond. If we meet at, say, 10 am we could do the Lewis Pond trip and then eat where ever we want.

Hi reunion buddies!

Not to burst anyone's "optimistic bubble" about Lewis Pond (especially mine! ) but do we need to think about a back-up scenario if we have the unthinkable (nasty weather)?

Phil: you said the roads to Lewis Pond are open and navigable; will bad weather preclude us from going? What about roads in semi-bad weather? I don't mind light rain but downpours.............. Phil and I can switch our Friday planned tour I'm sure, in case that day brings better weather, can anyone do that day as an alternative to Saturday? Just a thought.....

I'm sure the weather will be outstanding BUT what say ye all on an alternative meet-up location in case we don't go there? It's not too early to think about it .... I hate to bring it up but having a backup plan is easier than frantic last minute cell phone calls!

I still want to meet somewhere despite the weather so look forward to some ideas over the next 2 1/2 months! (Can you believe it??? :D )

Enjoy the rest of the summer!

I have a couple of updates. First, Jennifer's Restaurant has changed hands and is now Clay's Restaurant. My brother and I tried it and it's good. Real French Fries! Second, when I drove by the Stone Dam Road I noticed a "Road Work Ahead" sign on the road. I drove up the road about a mile and saw no road work there. It could be that they are working on the rough spots farther up the road. I'll have to check it out later. I was taking my brother and mother on an adventure at Magalloway Mountain in Pittsburg, (gasp) New Hampshire. It was a gloomy lousy day until it was time to go home, then clear blue skies all over. So we took a side trip up the Todd Hill Road in Canaan for the views. I gotta take you folks up there if we have time.

The Todd Hill Road is off route 102 near the Canaan/Lemmington town line. Looking east at the NH mountains you will see a notch. That's Dixville Notch. I did see a moose on route 105 between the South America Pond Road and the Notch Pond Road. He was in the bushes, so I couldn't get a good photo. Clay's is open for lunch.

Hey Reunion Group! I have a great idea for next year's reunion!! (#3) We should go on a foliage balloon ride out of Quechee!

I saw the website today and it looks like a blast! I think they have a champagne ride - saw a bunch of people toasting each other in the photos!

Anyone up for some adventure???? :P

We will have to check this out. I don't know if I can afford this on retirement pay.

Phil: It can be expensive. I have no idea what the price is and left a message with the owner. I've heard that it is a thrill of a lifetime.

I can only imagine what it is like to be in a hot air balloon during foliage season on a beautiful day!

Let's keep it on the back burner for 2010...... We haven't even done our 2009 reunion yet!

But just the thought of it, well............ I could start saving after the holidays!

ok........... well I have another idea Carol and PWT! :P

How about a group of us renting a boat on Lake Willougby? Carol: Do they have rentals where someone can drive us around the lake for a foliage tour? Or is there another large lake where they do that besides Lake Champlain? I think that would be fun! We could bring our binoculars and look for your elusive moose!!!!

If not by air (no interest) or land (we've done that) then if by sea????

Well, it's never too early to start planning I always say!

I've just confirmed by reservations for my Vermont trip. I will arrive in Burlington on Thursday, October 1, late and I'll stay near the airport. I would love to join CT and PWT on the Friday tour. Having someone who knows every road in Vermont showing us around is pretty exciting to me. I plan to attend the reunion on Saturday but I'm not into festivals so Sunday I plan to shoot photos from morning til night at all the places PWT will have shown us on Friday. I will have some time on Monday for photography but this is a business trip too so I have to work on Tuesday. I will head home late Tuesday. I am very much looking forward to meeting everybody that I have posted with on this forum over the past few years.

Phil, I would love to help you with your camera. Consider though, that you might just get so hooked on it that you won't want to go to those heiffer walk and leaf festivals.

Al

Al! Al! Al! Phil liked the Heifer Parade! He's even going to the next parade in Bennington on the 16th for our pre-seaon meetup Part II!

Ok, Here's the deal. I'll sit in the back seat on the Friday tour and promise I won't make Phil stop at any country stores or fairs or festivals!

Oh wait! I think we have one stop in Belvidere Center. Just one!!!!! There's a tiny country store there I've always wanted to go to.............. I'll be in and out fast!!! :P

P.S. We are also going to Belvidere Pond to look for moose when we leave Hyde Park............... that's a given, right Phil?
