Anxiety of a 1st Time Leaf Peeper

It's almost 90 degrees here in NYC today... The trees are all still green... I've heard there's no rain up north, and no rain means no good color...

I'm kicking myself now for choosing the 1st weekend of October for my fall trip. Too late to reschedule. Should have known with global warming in the mix!

My wife and I will be driving from Freeport, ME to Bristol, VT via Peachum (for the fest!) on 10/6. We're staying in Bristol again on 10/7, and then driving south to Conway, MA via North Adams, MA on Monday the 8th.

Any ideas? Please, please help us see some PEAK.

P.S. I'm also stressed about traffic. How bad is it on the weekends? Should I figure on doubling travel times listed on Google Maps?

Cheer up. We have light rain right now and it's suppose to rain off and on until friday. Colors are looking good and temps will be in the 60's this weekend. Leafpeepers get special treatment up here even if those damn Yankees do win.

thanks, feeling better already! bobcat looks good. love the craft beer! the alchemist in waterbury might be a worthy stop too.

not sure now if we'll make a detour to burlington. the shelbourne museum and shelbourne farms look interesting. so does the world's tallest filing cabinet. then there's "enticement alley." but maybe there's more enjoyment away from cities and big highways. we'll probably play it by ear.

by the way, does peacham or neighboring towns have any good eats?

The Shelburne Museum will atke a full day to do. If Peacham is having a fest, them may be some kind of meal served. Maybe even a chicken pie supper. There are not restuarants closer than Danville or Wells River.

Well, its just me, I am sure, but if you are going to Vermont during the fall foliage season, IMHO, the best is definitely out of the city. If you get there while the leaves are still on, you won't regret the trip to Peacham
