Oct. 4-9 Bridport/Moretown/South Woodstock

Hello everyone! I have really enjoyed reading all of your posts. There is so much to learn! Thanks for the valuable information. :D

My boyfriend and I have a trip planned for Oct. 4-9. We are really excited as this is our first trip to Vermont. I've always wanted to experience the beautiful fall foliage and activities. I was wondering if anyone might have pointers for "must see" spots in the areas of Bridport, Moretown, and South Woodstock?

Would it be way out of our way to try to see some of the Northern area of VT? Any suggestions for neat stops on the way from Moretown to South Woodstock?

Our schedule is as follows:
-Fly in to Albany, NY (rent a car and drive through a bit of the Adirondacks)
-Take the Essex/Charlotte ferry accross Lake Champlain
-Spend one night in Bridport, VT (Oct. 4)
-Nights of Oct. 5 & 6 staying in Moretown, VT
-During these days, check out Burlington, B&J factory in Waterbury, State House in Montpelier, etc.
-Nights of Oct. 7 & 8 staying in South Woodstock, VT
-Depart mid-day on Oct. 9 (flying out of Manchester, NH)

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated! I hope we have made good choices for our lodging areas. We wanted to see several different areas instead of staying in one place the whole time.

Thanks!
~Sarah Marie

If you can make to woodstock on the 6 or 7th, there is a great apples and craft fair, we go every year. We are flying out of man nh on the 9th to come home to Beaufort sc. Hope you enjoy your first trip to VT. You will return, I promise.

Be sure you drive route 73 from Lake Placid through the Keene Valley area. Your itinerary looks great. Any room is good in foliage season. They are hard to find at that time .

Thank you for your help! Those are great suggestions. We have rooms booked at some amazing B&Bs....or at least they look to be amazing on their websites and all of the inn keepers seem so nice.

I'll have to post a review when we get back. :)

Hey "bridgewatercorners", maybe we'll run into each other at the airport. Hahaha. The apple festival sounds great! Thanks for the heads up. We will be in that area on the 7th as that is location of our lodging for the final two days of our trip. Hope you have a great time!

"pwt54" and "bm", thanks for those route suggestions! The last time I checked the Lake Champlaign Ferry website, it appears that the ferries will still be open in all of the crossing areas. But I will definitely check again before we head that way.

I feel like we've been planning for so long. I can't believe it's almost here! So excited! :D

About 3 miles south of South Woodstock on route 106, you will start down a long hill. About 1/2 way down look to the right for the Jenne Road. This goes to the Jenne Farm. It's the most photographed farm in VT.
It probably won't surpise anyone that I've been to Beaufort, SC a couple of times on my way to Florida. It's worth a look see if your down that way.

Thanks for the info on the Fort Ti ferry! That might work out better. I'm going to check out the website right now.

I am also definitely going to check out Jenne Farm....I read about that somewhere else on this forum.
