Hi,

We are planning a trip to East-coast to-wards the end of sept, one of the attraction for us is fall color in Vermont, I have absolutely no idea if thats going to be the peak or the beginning of the season. Any help with regard to scenic path and time will be really appreciated.

Thanks

-Amit

Your timing is pretty good. The last week of September and the 1st week of October is a good time for foliage in northern and central Vermont and New Hampshire. Route 100 is the "grand route" but can be busy st times. Routes 17,73,125 and the Lincoln Gap road between route 100 and route US 7 are great rides. I also like routes 12, 14, 15, 16, and 58. We have some spotty early color and the colors look good.

If you are on route 102 in Canaan, look for the Todd Hill Road. There will be signs for a christmas tree farm near it. The dirt road starts out flat then goes up a hill. There will be a left hand curve with a farm on the right with an unmarked road beside it. This is the Hudson Road. Keep this in mind, but continue up the Todd Hill Rd until up come to a landing on your left. Pull over there and check out the view. You can see Dixville Notch if it's not too hazy. Finish the road and then turn around and take the Hudson Rd to the County Road and turn right to get back to route 102 in Canaan. Good views on these roads. Might see some deer. I saw some back in July.
