Oct. 5-8, We drove from NW CT through the Berkshires, up I-91 to Corinth, VT. NW CT and the Berkshires were hit hard with the fungus leaf spot and many sugar maple leaves turned brown early and fell off the trees. Not many bright colors this year, mostly shades of yellow, and brown. As far as Vermont, our place is above the East Orange village. Often the colors are so brilliant that it can bring tears to your eyes, this year, a bit dull. Maples also got hit with leaf spot there. I rate the color 4.7 on a scale of 10. Overall, it is pleasant color, more so along the road sides, but not so much on the hillsides.

I caught only part of a report on the fungas last week. If the spots are about 1/2 of an inch around and black, I've seen alot of those on the maple leaves around here.
