NYC to Rutland - new foliage conditions?
A few weeks ago, I asked the Forum about the best scenic, photogenic route from NYC to Rutland on Saturday October 7. I got this suggestion:
87 north to Route 29 at Saratoga Springs (exit 15, follow signs to 29 East).
East (right) on 29 to Route 22 north.
North (left) on 22 to Salem, NY.
East on 153 at Salem to E.Rupert, VT.
North(left) on Route 30 at E.Rupert.
Right on Route 133 in center of Pawlet, VT.
Follow 133 to Route 4 and into Rutland
or follow 140 from Middletown Sprgs to Route 7 at Wallingford and turn north on Route 7 to Rutland.
My questions are:
1. is it still good or there's a better way to maximize Foliage Viewing "on the way in" ?
2. how is Foliage in Killington area over Columbus Day?
Thanks

Re: NYC to Rutland - new foliage conditions?
In Wilmington/Dover we are peeking, and should be in full fall color in a week. From Jersey we take I 87N to exit 23 to 7east to 9east. Color increases throughout 9 east travel.Should be beautiful next week, it is lovely now ! Keep in mind, we have had much rain / wind. Losing our leaves already. I would think in the northern state, they are at peak/or going into the stage of " PLP " ( post leef peeping ).
Re: NYC to Rutland - new foliage conditions?
Northern Vt foliage is peaking in some spots like Stowe and running a little late along routes 108 and 109. Route 100 from Newprot south to about Granville might be a little iffy next weekend but great south of there. Killington is a good choice for next weekend.
Re: NYC to Rutland - new foliage conditions?
How is foliage NOW at these areas ?:
East on 153 at Salem to E.Rupert, VT.
North(left) on Route 30 at E.Rupert.
Right on Route 133 in center of Pawlet, VT.
Follow 133 to Route 4 and into Rutland
or follow 140 from Middletown Sprgs to Route 7
Am I better off taking Rt 9 to Rt 100 - Rt 100 A ?
