Mount Snow
I will be visiting the Mount Snow area October 13-15 for my first experience of New England Fall Foliage!! I have done some research as to location but I am not sure where else to go, what to do and see. Where is the best place for seeing foliage around there? Is this a good time to go this year? A little help please... A lot of thank yous.
Re: Mount Snow
You should have some good color down there at that time. I like the Jimmapco Atlas the best because it's easier to read, but they all work well. Many of the convenience stores carry the Jimmapco. Routes 100 and 9 are the main state roads for good rides. Routes US 7 and 7a from Bennington to Rutland are good, but my favorite is route 30 from Brattleboro to Middlebury. Route 35 from route 30 in Townshend to Chester is a good paved secondary road. But, as BM said , the dirt roads are the best. Also, there are toll roads to the top of Mt. Ascutney near Windsor and Mt. Equinox in Manchester.
Re: Mount Snow
In Dover, you can travel along Rt 100, either direction.
Go to the Inn at Saw Mill for dinner or a stay, but $$$$, and worth it.Mount Snow has a great spa, if you are into that. Adam's Farm great for kids, young and old, hayrides etc.
Route 100 So, from Dover will take you to the town of Wilmington, small town, nice shops. Try Dots for brunch/dinner.Poncho's Wreck for Dinner ( make a reserv.)
Rt 9 east for Molly Stark Park ( hike ) and Hogback Lookout for Fantastic Views is a must.
Stay straight on 9 east to Brattleboro, bear left at the fork, to town, cute stores, back to the 60's, Great place for a lunch bite is "Amy's", healthy meals, and excellant baked goods.
Should have some nice color by then, we are starting already.
