Hi
We will be touring Vt. by car and will be towing a
pop up camper. Can you please suggest a good campground in Southern and Central Vermont.
Also one in Danby and Tinmouth Area. My ancestors
were from there and am so thrilled to be going to see the fall colors of Vermont.
Thanks much,
karen Gaughan in Pa.

K,

We've camped the last five years in the Coolidge State Park just North of Plymouth, VT and we just love it there. It is quiet and peaceful, the camp sites are separated so you don't feel like you're camping on top of someone else and it's never very crowded. They have hot showers and flush toilets. You can buy firewood and ice in the campground provided you get to the rnagers before 6:00pm (they get a little testy after that!) We tent camp in what they call a lean-to site. It has a three sided structure with a raised floor and a sloped roof. It keeps everything dry and up off the ground. About half of their sites are lean-to site and the other half is regular tent sites. The lean-to sites are a little harder to get especially on the weekends but the rest is rarely used during the foliage season.

The location is South central and we find it very accessable to most of the state.

Good luck and here's hoping its a great foliage season.

For private campgrounds try http://www.campvermont.com/
for State Campgrounds try http://www.vtstateparks.com/

Emerald Lake campground is the closest State campground and is open until Oct. 15.
Dorest RV Park is the closest private campground and is open until Oct. 31.
