Barkhamsted Reservoir - N. Connecticut 10-22-20

I did a quick drive to Barkhamsted Reservoir today, near peak foliage conditions with the Oaks, going bare with other deciduous specie's. I headed South on Route 179 torwards North Canton and the trees were quite bare. I turned around and went home.

Here in Enfield, it's going past peak, though it's still colorful in spots. The rain forecast for next week is going to be the end of foliage around here.

Kevin, I was just there this morning early and we (NH Calguy from this forum who drove down here at 6 a.m.) found great reflections on the still waters on 219 South of the construction about 2 miles. There are two pullouts on the west side of the road with a small landing bridge to stand on. I actually thought the reservoir was glorious. There are certainly a lot of oaks, the lighting was great in the morning from the large parking lot not the small one. No one was there!

For a change of scenery, have you thought of heading south to Fairfield County? They are turning peak now and the back roads of Wilton, Weston, Ridgefield, Redding, Easton and New Canaan are winding and beautiful and as rural as anywhere in the NW Corner. Weir Farm, Devils Den, so much to see. I grew up in the surrounding area.

I'll be heading to the shoreline sometime next week after the rains. I am craving a lobster roll (almost half a lobster in there) from Lobster Landing.
