loafer: are you going to be around the Quabbin Reservoir at all? I'm planning a trip there soon.
Also, take 242 south out of Norfolk. Stop at Dennis Hill State Park and at the summit look north on the hillside. Before you get to route 4 traveling south on 242 out of Norfolk you will see a lake/pond on your left called Stillwater Pond. Gorgeous and it was nearing peak last weekend. North Canton on route 179 is peak all the way up to East Hartland and the Barkhamsted Reservoir should be peak now. I was there last weekend and it was just in the beginning stages of color. Just some thoughts for a fellow CT poster to check out!
I hiked the Macricostas Preserve last Saturday with bhavjen from the forum and it should be in peak this week. (It is in New Preston/Washington area). It overlooks Lake Waramug. Insanely beautiful! The color down 47 into Woodbury was peak. So now Central CT is having its show at this time.
I understand the NE corner is past peak already so that's out of the picture for this weekend.
Let me know what you find!
October 24th or bust! (never mind, trip canceled)

As of last weekend Western Connecticut was past peak beyond Norfolk on Route 44. We drove past the Barkhamsted Reservoir and it was 75% green. I'll try to get there this afternoon and report back. Here in North Central Connecticut we are nearing peak and the Oak's are about 35% changed. Next week should be peak for the Oak's around here. It's mixed though, some areas have great color while some areas are already bare.
The NWS is forecasting a lot of rain/wind for next Thursday, so this weekend will probably be the last descent one for fall foliage around here.
