Jobs Pond at Sunrise
I drove up and stayed in Island Pond, VT on Monday/Tuesday with the hope of capturing ponds with good color. The drive up was depressing with clouds the whole way up. I did find a new waterfall that put me in a better mood but I went to bed having captured few solid shot. The next morning, I woke before sunrise and shot around Island Pond. The views were good with the Inn's small pier as a nice foreground element but the color hadn't hit peak yet. When the color started to fade, I jumped in the car and drove like mad for Jobs Pond.
I had gone to Jobs the day before and been impressed with the color though it was very muted due to the light. As I got to Jobs at 7:00am, my jaw hit the floor. It was the most incredible color I had ever seen. There was a low cloud over the hill that captured the early morning light and I quickly composed some shot. This is my favorite (though I have a few more to work on).
Thanks to this forum for telling me about Jobs. Now I know what all the fuss was about
I'll be adding more shots from the trip to my Vermont gallery on my landscape site: http://orenphotography.com/vermont/

Ok, see thats what I am talking about ... exactly the shot that has eluded me for at least 3 years. That is a spectacular photo and you got there at the right time in a great foliage year. Last year at Jobs Pond was a skunker ... by the time I got there it was a bunch of sticks. This year though, I hope to be there in the next 3 days and hopefully see sunlight at least on one of those days

Great photo!
Cool if I hate you for both your massive talent and for your timing? I'll assume so.
Looking forward to more and thanks for sharing!

Beautiful shot. Amazing color! The last two years it certainly didn't look like that! Where there was strong color, there was a lot of leaf drop.
