NEK Today

Hit the NEK again today. Early light was great and I was hoping for a great day of photography. That quickly changed as the rain and fog came and just never seemed to let up. The color was fantastic though. It was a nice drive even though I didn't get the camera out much. Did manage a few stream shots early in the day.

Great shots Rich. There certainly is enough rain for waterfalls lately!

The rains here are simply wretched. As I type we are getting heavy downpours and the pattern just doesn't seem to want to move.

Where did you go in the NEK today? Just wondering if Phil and I should head back up tomorrow as it will be sun and clouds...... any recommendations?

I certainly hope the sun comes out tomorrow. Wouldn't count on it that much. In fact the weather this week is not nice so I have postponed my trip. instead of Tue-Fri I will be there Thur-sun. Had to change from Lincoln NH to Woodsville NH. What a shame being only a couple of miles from VT and P&H. My forecast is for MOTS More of the same. There will be periods of dry weather, but periods of rain through at least Tuesday. Wednesday looks drier but still cloudy. Thursday I expect a true p.sunny day. Sunshine Fri-Mon. In fact the models are forecasting a blowtorch Saturday and Sunday. Could be widespread 70s. Maybe just maybe 80 in the warmer places Like North Conway or Burlington. Wish I had better news. Been another terrible day here in Eastern Mass but guess what CT? It was sunny in Connecticut today! I'll talk to the Weather Gods about this.

I got off 91 in Lyndonville and headed up Darling Hill, Maple Ridge, and down to 114, up to Island Pond, headed out 105 towards Moose Bog. I was going to hike out to that, but it was pouring rain. I headed out toward Barton, and then down 5 until I hit Underpass Rd and took that up to Sutton, and then down Calendar Brook Road back to Lyndonville. I went to Danville, and then took Route 2 until Mack Mtn Rd, which I took over to PEacham, then down to Groton and headed home. Other than Peacham, the color was nice everywhere I went. Seemed like a lot more reds today (compared to Friday), but maybe it just seemed that way due to the wet, rainy day. Peacham seemed a bit dull to me, but may be better in a few days. I didn't go into Groton State Forest, but from 302, it looked pretty good. Actually, all along 302 between Groton and Orange was very nice.

Have fun tomorrow. I don't think I will be able to get out again until Friday!

This stream is on a small dead-end road towards the end (on the left) of Lost Nation Road. Lost Nation Road is off of Route 114. All the rain really had it flowing nice today.

Interesting, thanks for the tip. I'm planning on heading that way next weekend. So you must be familiar with the lower-end of that stream, closer to 114. This was in the summer...
