So Many Routes, So Little Time

Hello,

It's me again. Six more days until I begin Nancy & Hubby's Big Adventure in Vermont (Oct. 5 - Oct. 10 White River Junction base). I like to be prepared and so I'm reading my Moon Vermont travel book and all the recommended foliage routes on this forum plus routes recommended on several other websites (one site has 20!) But I'm overwhelmed with so many routes and so much information! How do I know these routes will still have good foliage once I'm there? How do I choose amongst all the routes? And then there's the closed or rough roads... I'm getting really nervous about this. Excited but nervous. Please help!

There will be only 5 sections of roads left closed by the time you get here. They are; route 107 in Stockbridge, route 12 between Bethel and Barnard, route 73 between Rochester and Brandon, route 131 between Cavendish and Perkinsville, and route 100 between jamaica and Wardsboro. By rough roads we mean gravel section that are not smooth as silk. Many are being paved as I peck away on this keyboard. Colors on route 100 between Waterbury and route US 4 are running late and should be great when you get here. Northeast VT north of route 15 and east of route 100 should still have great color early in your vacation, so go there first. The Danville. Peacham, and Groton area as well as route 100 south of route US 4 should be ready near the middle of your vacation. Woodstock, Ludlow, Chester, and Weston should be nice at the end of your vacation. Colors look to be better than average this year, so just pick some roads and go.

Thank you abby and pwt54 for the information and for you reassuring words. I'm all packed and ready to go. After four years in a row of having to cancel this trip, this time it's really happening (fourth time's the charm?)! I'm so excited! If you don't mind, I may have questions for you once we arrive in Vermont. I promise to have a trip report for you when I get back!

If Hurricane Ctyanky doesn't send me to the funny farm, I'll be glad to answer some questions.

If it sounds too good to be true, its probably . . . .
