Worth driving up to VT tomorrow (9/23)?

Just got approved to this board and was hoping for a bit of advice after much lurking and thinking. I have a day off tomorrow and another on 10/6. I was hoping colors would be settling in and I could make a day trip (up from Salem, MA) to photograph spots. Went through the entire 'favorites' thread that recently went up and would like to try my hand at Stowe/Rt 108/Smuggler's Notch then Rt 109/Belvedere pond. Was also planning to hit Bingham falls.
Question is - are the colors 'there' for this trip tomorrow or am I better off heading elsewhere and saving this trip for the 6th?
Thanks
E

As an introduction, here is are two of my favorite shots from last Fall
Fern Lake (got lost and wound up here by mistake) :o

It's pretty early.

If you want to make a quick day trip and save some driving, consider the upper elevations in the southern part of the state, which should have some decent color by now (haven't been up in a week).

There is early color in the highlands of the Stowe/Belvidere area. IXL suggested the high elevations of southern Vt. Route 100 does turn earlier than the rest of the state because of it's elevation. It might be worth a try.

Nice shot of the Lake? Willing to tell us where you got lost?

If it were me, I would save it for Oct 6. Sure to find some good color somewhere on that date. Cannot predict or guarantee weather, unfortunately :(

If it sounds too good to be true, its probably . . . .

the picture that you posted of the beautiful westport style lawn chairs looks like the ones near the robert frost memorial trail off rt. 125, near the middlebury/snow bowl campus. i may be mistaken about your nice picture, but even if i am that is one beautiful spot for foliage photography.

Fern Lake: Addison County, about 5 miles N of Brandon on Vt. 53.
