Time Lapse Video
Time Lapse Video
Hello everyone:
As some of you know, I got a Canon 5DMk11 a few months ago, mostly for video. But, I have discovered the camera is also excellent for doing time lapse photography.
Here is one that I did just recently.

This 30 second video required taking an image every 2 seconds for about 15 minutes. Naturally I am concerned about wear and tear on the shutter and the lens iris. Anyone know much about that? I used a 70-200 Canon zoom set at about 150mm

Hi Tim: Some "quick and dirty" Google research tells me that the Canon "pro" SLR bodies are designed for actuations in the 100 of thousands. Thats a lot of "trips." My guess is that the lens iris issue is even less of a worry. I have used Nikkor lenses on my Nikon that are years old and in some cases were well used. While they are mechanical and that means -- like a car -- they might break down unexpectedly, I wouldn't worry much about it myself.
