Report from Monday October 5
I had great day of leaf peeping yesterday. Color was great in the Barnet area. I also really enjoyed the drive through the Groton National Forest along highway 242. Color was excellent. I stopped at Owl's Head and walked to the top. The color was very good there and the view from the top was outstanding.
Late in the day I was driving east of Montpelier on Highway 2 about 20 miles east of Montpelier when a heavy rain started up. Shortly thereafter the sun came out. I knew we were in for a great rainbow, so I found the first place that offered an opportunity to pull off the road. I captured a shot of a hill in full color and a double rainbow. I'll post that shot and others I took while in Vermont on my website. I hope to have that done by this weekend.

That is so funny I was also there on Monday at the overlook and after there we started to head home then the rain started, next thing you know my husband was pulling out on the side going look at that double rainbow!
We got some really neat shot as well:)
It's funny I might of seen you in both places I was out there with my husband and my 2 kids <boy and a girl> We were driving a blue Quest Nissan, there was quiet a few cars that we saw stopping for the rainbow!

We must have just missed each other. There was only one other visitor to the overlook when I was there and that was an adult couple with a man about my age.
It was hard to find a place to pull off along highway 2. I needed to find a place where I was out of the way of traffic so I could get to my camera gear. I have to admit though that I did not take the time to set up my tripod for that photo.

I saw Al's double rainbow shot. Totally amazing! I won't give any details on the resulting shot, but when you see it, your jaw will drop! Not kidding!
