Here's just a couple exemplar images from my first day of shooting in the MI UP. Color is coming on each day. Expect some pretty nice images in the coming days:

Nice shots Andy. You must not have Photoshop with you...none of your photos are oversaturated!

Love the moon shot. Did you still have some daylight when the moon rose or were you using a grad to get such nice exposure?

Al: All quick & dirty laptop workups. Plenty of saturation all by itself. Any more would make the reds totally muddy. This is the most intense color and variety at the same time I have seen in years!

Absolutely gorgeous! Mother nature is certainly blessing us with beautiful displays in many locations this year! I may have to visit Michigan one year. Wow! (Hate to sound like a dummy, but what does UP stand for?):

Really? Nice colorcast on that! I often find morning light too "peachy" or "orangey". I find my pictures look like someone vomitted sherbert on them and I couldn't wipe it off before the image was stained.

Sorry, bad image with the sherbert?

And of your next set of images, is that a group of friends or just a really popular spot filled with strangers? Reminds me of a prime pool on the Battenkill during a big hatch. At least photographers can share a spot, unlike flyfishermen.

Thanks, everyone. Some downtime this afternoon between morning and afternoon shoots. Got some filtered high fog this morning and thus, an extended shooting period. Fall is good to us!

Utah: NEK is mostly correct. Michigan is two peninsulas, "Upper" and "Lower." They are connected by the Mackinac Bridge. People above the bridge are self-styled "Yoopers" and they tend to refer to the rest of us as Trolls (below the bridge) . The UP is pretty beautiful and is perhaps the most diverse of ecosystems, complete with lakeshore, mixed hardwoood and "evergreen" forests, inland lakes and ponds and even "mountains" (sort of). Lots of sandstone rock formations and iron and copper, too. One clarification: it IS below Lake Superior but is above both Lakes Michigan on the West and Huron on the East and the strip of lake connecting the two and immediately below the majority of the UP are referred to as the Straits of Mackinaw. TMI??

Dean : The moon light shot is actually prior so-called "civil twilight" and before the sun starts to shine from behind the horizon. Those shots actually often produce a very blue light, just before the pinks and oranges, and purples from the pre-sunrise.

Gotcha. Sorry, I should have known what you meant when you said twilight. I always head out intended to get those but always seem delayed until my first shots are sherbert.

In fairness to yourself, Dean, Twilight is both in the a.m. and in the p.m.
