Hi
I am travelling to Lake Bomoseen on Oct. 9 from Bridgeport, CT. Which is the best route to take to see the foliage and also how will the foliage at the lake be then?

I would boogie up I-91 to exit 2 in Brattleboro, VT and take route 9 west to route 100 north in Wilmington. Take route 100 north to route 30 in East Jamaica. Turn left and drive route 30 west/north right up to Bomoseen. Colors might be early at Bomoseen, but check the swamp at the north end. the swamp trees are turning early this year.

According to IXL's post things are doing better than I thought down there. I'd do one coming up and the other going down. The way the foliage is turning in the mountains right now I would do route 30 from Brattleboro coming up first. The foliage may not be as good when you go home. It should be peak along route 7 and 7a when you go home. You may want to save time to drive up the Skyline Drive to Mt Equinox just south of Manchester, if it's a nice day.

I second PWT54's advice to travel north via Brattleboro/Routes 9-100-30, which is higher, then return via Route 7, Bennington and western Mass., which is lower.
The foliage is approaching peak in Bennington County (I'm presently near the bottom of Kelly Stand Rd. in Sunderland at about 1000' elevation.)
Lots of bright colors today, although still much green left. We'll probably be close to peak by Oct. 9.
