Rutland to Stowe to Montreal

We will be driving from Rutland to Stowe on Thursday, 10/13, then on to Montreal on Friday. What areas should we cover between Rutland and Stowe? We have all day. How about from Stowe to Canada on Friday? With so many different reports of color being bad in one place and good in another, I want to make sure we head to the areas with the best color. Thanks again for all the help.

I would spend as much time as possible north of Stowe. You're not going to find much color south of there, IMO. --c

Drive route US 7 north from Rutland to route 125 east in East Middlebury. Drive route 125 east to the end at route 100 north in Hancock and turn left. There is some color on route US 7 and good color on route 125. Colors on route 100 between route 125 and Warren are poor but it gets better the farther north you go. Colors should be good in Stowe. From Stowe to Montreal; Take route 108 north from Stowe through Smuggler's Notch to route 15 west in Jeffersonville. Turn left and drive route 15 west to route 104 north. Drive route 104 north to the I-89 access road in St.Albans, just past the Comfort Inn. Take I-89 north to Canada.
