I guess the question is...how are you getting from Niagara Falls to Montpellier? It is a very long drive...about a day's worth. You could travel through New York state to Vermont a couple of ways after you pass through Rome on the NYS Thruway. One way...through the Adirondacks, would put you up North...closer to Fort Ticonderoga & Lake Champlain. Another would put you further south- closer to Rutland, and Killington (Route 100?). You could also come across Canada, and come down into NYS or VT.
The trip on 100/107 is relatively short in comparison...thus the confusion about your concern.

Thanks 4sneau. I was thinking of taking a scenic route for Fall colors(hopefully 100 is beautiful) when I pass thru vermont.
Are there any other good must visit back roads along 100 for photography from intersection 107 to montpelier.

There won't be much color until you hit route 100 and that color might be early. You might want to take the fastest way to route 100 and work north. Colors northeast of Montpelier should be perking up by the 30th.
