First of all, thanks to all of you who give such great information on a consistent basis! I am an Atlanta native who thinks that fall in New England is one of the most beautiful places in the world. I have been fortunate enough to have visited New England in the fall several times in the last fifteen years. Since I never know if the season will be late or early, I try to hedge my bets and stay at a central location and plan on driving a lot. I will be in Vermont this year from October 11 or 12 to October 15. I have reservations in White River Junction. Is this way too far north normally? (last year it was about right at that time) Should I try to get a backup reservation in Bennington or Brattleboro? Finally, any suggestions regarding lakes or ponds to shoot at sunrise with brilliant foliage and any other interesting elements at that time in the season?
Once again, thanks for all of your insights. This site has been my most valuable resource in finding the best color and interesting photography opportunities.

You should be alright. Reaching the best foliage won't take too long.
