How's this drive?

I'm trying to map out a drive before I leave tomorrow.

I was thinking that when I get into Killinton I'd like to do a day drive up 100 north to Morrisville, then down south on 12 all the way back to Woodstack then back over to Killinton.

How long would a drive like this take? All day?

Depends entirely on how much you stop. If you are just driving you could do it in 3-4 hours. Then add in however much time you want to get out of your car and see/do stuff. ;) Seems like a reasonable day trip to me... I might suggest taking 108 out of Stowe if you haven't driven Smuggler's Notch before -- it is fun. Also, at Morrisville, consider 15 east to 14 and taking that down... as an alternative to 12 (not sure which has better color, I drove part of 14 today and it was lovely.) --c

Route 12 between Morrisville and Montpelier has fantastic color right now. Colors not ready below Northfield, but route 12A from Northfield looking better to at least Roxbury. I recommend doing your route 100 to Morrisville. When you come to the flashing red light in Morrisville, go straight to a "Y" intersection and bear right for route 12. Take route 12 to Montpelier and then figure out what you'd like to do. Me, I would do one of three routes. I could do route 12 all the way down. It's a nicer drive the route 14. OR I could drive route 12 to route 12A in Northfield and drive that to the Warren Mountain Road on the right side in Roxbury. That takes you back to route 100 in Waitsfield. OR, I could take route 12 south to route 65 east and drive that to and over the Floating Bridge in Brookfield and then finish route 65 east to route 14 south. Of course had I stopped at Ben and Jerry's Ice Cream Factory on route 100 in Waterbury and had a hot fudge sundae I wouldn't much care where I went.( That's number 6 of my top ten list).
