What's my best bet for Oct 9 to 11?

I have printed many threads on this forum and am trying to figure out what my best bet is for the foliage routes.
I am coming on the 9th(Saturday) and leaving on the 11th, and will be based in Rutland. From the reports I have seen on this forum, I'd guess that my best bet will be from Rutland to Burlington. Is this a good bet? Before I go crazy on planing the route details, please help me on this.
Also, I'd really want to check out the dead creek wildlife management area for snow geese. PWT, what is the best time of the day to get there? I don't want to see a big shadow caused by mountains. I hope I can see snow geese in good light.
Many thanks in advance,
Kai Hui
