OFF TOPIC: White Mountains - 10/11/19

NH is bursting with color. I took Rt. 4 east to 118 North through Enfield and Canaan. 118 has a lot of color. If you hiked Mt. Cardigan you'd have one heckuva view. Definitely peak on the mountains. From there I did a turn west on Rt. 112 (The Kanc) and visited Beaver Pond, then started east on 112. Good color the whole way. I went as far as Small Falls. The Sugar Hill overlook and the area near the Lily pond were on fire. Right amount of sun and cloud at that time. Thick clouds kept creeping in, so lightwise it was hit and miss for photography, but if you are just wanting to view, holy moly, what a show! Someone here recommended Bear Notch Road so I turned around and took that. Great recommendation as the overlooks there were spectacular. From there it was up to 302 west then over to 3 south and onto Rt. 93 south. Stunning views for the whole ride. Especially good from exit 28 northwards. I got off in Plymouth. Plymouth seems to be a little behind this year. It still has some ways to go, but its much better than last weekend. Then it was 25 west until I got back to 118 South. I'd say the Upper Valley on the NH side is probably near peak or peak right now. You pretty much can't go wrong. I'm heading to Augusta, ME area tomorrow. Then will probably hit VT on Monday.

Great update! I am in St. Johnsbury tonight, staying at a friend’s house as we could not find any accommodation last minute. On the way back to Boston I would like drive through NH and may be stop at a few stops to view the foliage. I have already been to the Kanc a few years back. So I would like to try some new areas in NH. Do you have any suggestions? Thanks a lot.

Franconia/Crawford Notch are all on fire. It's honestly amazing.

If you have time I recommend the Artist Bluff hike. I did it yesterday and the view at the top is great.
