Groton / Kettle Pond 9/27

Made a quick stop at Kettle Pond today and took a couple quick shots. One from the boat launch, and one of the trees from the parking lot. I was there around 10 AM and the light was harsh. I used a polarizer to try and cut the glare down a bit, but the color still looks a bit washed out in these pics. The reds are really looking good there, but the yellows have really just started. I would say it's still a good 5 or 6 days from peak, but you never can tell. I didn't drive up Seyon Pond Road, but the color looked much better up in that area from Route 302.

I also happened to be in Tunbridge and Randolph areas, and things seem to be just starting there. I would rate it at about 20% right now.

How do think Groton State Forest will be early to mid week next week? I'm in Peacham and don't want to miss any good color being so close! I'm coming to Montpelier this Monday the 30th to visit a gentleman from NW CT who retired in Montpelier, and have 3 hours after lunch to kill before I check into my 2nd lodging in Peacham village - so may also be a good time to drive 232.

These photos were from Friday, so I think mid week might be closer to peak on Route 232

Oh my! Fantastic! I'm meeting Phil, bogey and his friend Bob in Peacham Tuesday, and hope that the Calais, Woodbury, Danville and Marshfield areas will be of the same. Otherwise, another trip to NEK. Will await any advise! Thank you!
