Past Peak in VT Still Beautiful To Me! Day Trip 10/25 SoVT

Hello to all on the foliage forum! I had a business transaction to take care of in Chester this past Friday and what a gorgeous, sunshiny day in Vermont! We left CT in heavy clouds and were surprised to see the cloud bank disappear as we approached the state line area. Glorious peak color all the way up on 91 from northern CT through Deerfield corridor. There was also a lot of green as we crossed the border into VT with some past peak colors and even bold color emerging on the hillsides. This seemed very strange to me so late in the season...….
Stopped at the Vermont Country Store on 103 in Rockingham as always and it was nice not to have the heavy crowd scene! On the way to Ludlow, Okemo Mountain was tipped in snow and it was so beautiful against the blue bird colored sky! Here was stick season for sure! We stopped at the Green Mountain Sugar House for a yummy maple cremee and I couldn't resist a bit of shopping in the VT clothing section!
On the way home, we took route 35 south out of Chester and the past peak colors all the way into Grafton were still quite beautiful with a tunnel of sparkling foliage to enjoy. There are still pockets of color to enjoy in parts of Southern VT but I don't know how the rains affected the foliage going forward...... I truly enjoyed the remaining colors left from the season. Vermont will always be beautiful to me regardless of whether it is peak, past peak or stick season. The landscape is so dramatic, especially with the snow capped mountain tops, and the small towns and villages we traveled through added a sweet ending to the day.
Vermont in all seasons. A visual treasure indeed!
