Spending the last days of our trip in NH. Doing the Kanc. and Mt Washington today, will report tonight if anyone's heading this way.

I'd love a report on Franconia Notch if you're headed that way.

Didn't get up Franconia, but by the looks of the area it should be great. Even the drive up I93 was lovely. I have never driven the Kanc and seen as much color as we did this time. We oohed and awed all the way. Only at the top had the colors started to fade and drop leaves. The Lincoln side was particular pretty in the morning sun. The reds where really "rockin".

Thanks for this tip. I had been up there twice and each time it was still early. Went today and found very good color, esp reds, esp on the lower levels. The higher elevations were starting to look stripped but were still beautiful. The crowds were horrific. This is from the Lily Pond site, on the north side of the Kanc.

Oh wow! I remember Lily Pond from a couple of years ago. There were soooo many lily pads all over and the reflections were beautiful. The foliage in the back was peak! I was with Phil. It was my first experience in NH! I told him that's where I want my ashes strewn! Or was it Peacham. Whatever. Anyways, I'm sure the crowds were ridiculous!

Phil made a hysterical post after that day in NH called, "Foliasm on the Kanc". I wish I could find it but it is buried deep in the black hole of the forum.
