We have to be in Woodstock,VT, next weekend...Sept. 24& 25. I realize that is early for most peak performance in that area, but if we head a bit further West, toward Killington, will we be able to catch some good color?

I would imagine so. There is already a fair bit of color in the mountains here in southern VT. Nowhere near peak, but still very nice. --c

I was down in Tunbridge yesterday. That's just above Woodstock. Foliage was still very green. I was over in Waitsfield last weekend and there was early color over there. I think you should try going to Killington and taking route 100 north to Moretown and route 100B to route US 2 in Middlesex. Turn right and take route US 2 east to Main Street in Montpelier. Turn right on Main Street. You are now on route 12 south. Take that back to Woodstock. Those 2 roads go through long narrow valleys and the leaves seem to turn earlier.

I just got off the phone with a friend who has a camp between Woodstock and my place in Bridgewater, he has been up for the lasst 3 weekends. Head a little north of woodstock. Its starting but you have to climb in elevation, or get in the wte areas, thats the report I have from my friend. I will be up 10/8-10/12. Check out the Quechee Gorge, it may have some color.
