State of Vermont Foliage Report for October 8th, 2014

All stages of fall foliage are now present throughout Vermont. Although the northern regions and high elevations have moved passed peak, there are still glimpses of vibrant colors, especially in protected pockets and forest interiors.

Mike Snyder, Vermon'ts Commissioner of Forest, Parks and Recreation, says peak conditons continue to develop across southern Vermont, especially in the Connecticut River Valley and along the Champlain Valley in the west. "There's a surprising amount of green persistence and excellent viewing over the the Columbus weekend," says Mr. Snyder.

Best Bets (North to South)

-Lake Champlain Byway, Route 7 in the Lake Champlain Islands and southbound in Middlebury.

-Conneticticut River Byway, Route 5 from White River Junction south to Brattleboro. Route 22A from Fair Haven to Shoreham.

-Route 22A from Fair Haven to Shoreham Route 140 from East Wallingford to Middletown Springs.

-Route 53 around Lake Dunmore

-West River Valley, Route 30 from Jamaica to Brattleboro

-Shires of Vermont Byway, Rout 7A from Manchester to Bennington.
