Update on a Scenic Gem...

Good Morning All,

I've been following this forum for quite a few years, but this is my first post. Hello to all of you! I hail from north-central CT (born and raised, all of 50+ years!), but Vermont has been my second home forever. I feel blessed that I live within an hour's drive of the VT border, and many parts of the state can be explored with a simple daytrip!

My question is...does anyone have any updates on the condition of Kelley Stand Road? Did it ever reopen after Tropical Storm Irene? This is just one of the many off-the-beaten-path roads that I've yet to explore.

Happy Fall and thanks for any info!
Lori :)

Thank you, Carol (abby) for the update...much appreciated! Thanks also for sharing the information on TS (Hurricane) Irene. Some of the new folks on the forum may not know about this catastrophic storm and all the destruction it caused. The great State of Vermont "got it done" and rebuilt and came back stronger and better than ever! :D

Wow, they actually finished it on time. I am honestly shocked as I was not expecting it until early next year. Will have to check it out.

We are getting near the right time for that area. But my guess is Roaring Branch will never be as pretty as it was before... glad I have a few photographic memories of it pre-Irene.

Kelly Stand Road was one of the most beautiful roads I've taken in Vermont. So glad it is back! Maybe I can convince Charles to take me there when I go up to see him next month.

One of our first SOV reunions was there and we had a great picnic at Grout Pond!!!!!

Unfortunately, Kelly Stand will be all sticks in October, except for perhaps the very bottom.
