It's finally here! In a couple of hours I'll be on my way to Vermont and beautiful weather and foliage! I am meeting bm, my very special VTer friend whom I met on this forum! We have been meeting up for excursions for years now and I want to tell everyone what a very special lady she is! She is one of the most down to earth friends I have ever known and besides that, she knows VT like the back of her hand. The friendships I have made on this forum are invaluable.

Most importantly, I owe my experiences and knowledge of all the nooks and crannies of the state to the expertise of bm and Phil and they are surely the King and Queen of Vermont Back Roads!

Safe travels to all, and may you find what you are seeking in the Great State of Vermont.

Cheers and God Bless, CT.

CT and BM, have another wonderful foliasm trip. Rain or shine, cloudy or stormy, Vermont in Autumn is Heaven on Earth. I'll be all over Northern Vermont Oct 1 through 8 this year (I was all over Souther Vermont in 2010). If you see a fool beating around the bush, crouching behind a fence, under a bridge . . .with camera in hand to frame another picture, Wave so I know you are another member from SOV family.

CT be safe. Great weather on tap for the next week, save a few clouds later Sunday/Monday and perhaps a shower. The NWS has issues a MOOSE WARNING for all of VT and NH in anticipation of your arrival. All Moose are now headed to NY, ME, MA or those with passports Quebec.

Hello all my SOV foliage fanatic friends! I'm here in Paradise aka Vermont!

Seemed like a long drive up this year! LOTS of road construction in various spots and glad I hit the road early to avoid the backups on sections of 91 and 89. It added 1/2 hour to my four hour trip. That's ok. I was trying to relax in my car as the stress from all the trip planning was building up over the week! The amazing landscape and scenery as I got deeper into Vermont set me at ease in a short time. The views as I approached Barre/Montpelier on 89 before exit 8 never ceases to amaze me! Wowzah! It opens up before you and it is quite a sight to behold. I think 89 is a gorgeous drive and easy. This is the first time in about 3 years that I haven't driven up in white-knuckle driving rain! It was really a nice day but cloudy and then the blue arrived! I was so happy to cross the border I beeped at the Welcome To Vermont sign! The first welcome center in Guilford is great. I've never seen so many maps and literature in one place. They have it extremely well organized with any information you need set under the area of the state of Vermont you are interested in visiting. It is one of the best tourist stops in Vermont I've ever seen. The one you get to right after you start 89 is also great and set right into the hillside. I usually stop there but was trying to make up some time lost from the road construction.

I have some advice. The Big E in Springfield MA is on and there are lots of signs warning of delays. So if you are headed up 91, LEAVE EARLY. I didn't hit a bit of traffic at around 8:15 a.m. I think it was.

Watch the speed limits on 91 and 89. They are out there. Lots of cars pulled over. It's foliage season and they know the flatlanders are on their way!

Even Dean: Thanks for your kind words!

Shyu: We didn't have any foliasms today but we are close! Oh yeah!

Wxman: This is my year to see a moose. They are waiting for me out there, somewhere. I just know it.

Stay tuned for more of bm and CT adventures. She just posted our day. Enjoy! :D
