Since I'm from Alabama, what do I know? Right? But since my trip is the same dates as yours, I've been doing as much research as possible. Getting current info as well as past history and guess what....I think we will be doing great next weekend. The color will of course vary depending on where you are, but the area is compact and you should encounter some good stuff within driving distance no matter where you are.

Well, not only will we be in Vt. during the same time period as you guys, but we will also be arriving late night on the 10th..flying into Burlington. I'm a little suprised you haven't seen some pretty nice fall color over in SC during early and mid Nov. Good luck with your 13 year old and be sure to take a lot of pics.

My husband and I will also arrive in southern Orange County, VT late Thursday evening on the 10th. We too will awake to a view overlooking a 30 acre meadow with a crystal clear pond framed by sugar maple trees. Only difference is that we will be sleeping in sleeping bags, in tent inside our old Vermont hillside barn. We also can't wait to be there again and we live in NW CT where it is also gorgeous in the autumn. But, there is just something about Vermont :-) F.Y.I. the leaves in NW CT are about early mid range now, lots green and yellows but not a lot of deep reds yet. The weather forecast looks very promising for the late this coming week into the weekend.

Yeh, its ok here, but the drought has made it terrible and 33 years of the same state, its time for the real deal.

Your timing is about perfect. If uyou want to take a look at what is happening today 25 miles to the south of Bridgewater see todays Pics From the Chester area at http://www.otfi.com/foliagepics.htm
My brother spent several years as psrt of the welcoming committee for uncle Sam's Misguided Children down at Parris Island, as a PMI first then later as a DI. After he retired he stayed down there for a few years. He bought a house over on Lady Island. One thing he always complained about when visiting up here is that its too cold for him. It does cool down pretty good at night now with frost being common. So think about packing some extra layers of clothing. If you dont need it it wont cost extra to have it along. But if you do need the extra clothing and don't have it you'll find that shiverring makes a pretty poor hobby Image Of course if you don;t bring warmer clothes the shopping ie pretty good here as well. I live on Ladys Island, been here all my life. My wife is from Deep River Conn. We inherited a place in Vermont from her family. My first trip up was 3 years ago for the summer, fell in love with vermont. Have been up for every winter since, was up there 2 years ago when the big storm hit, we got close to 30" of snow, it was nice to ski Killington in knee deep powder. On the first trip up we only had 6 cars pass the house in 5 days. very Peaceful, just what the doc ordered.Aleks, tell your brother he wouldnt recognise L.I, Sams Point road is now turned into a 4 lane road. Time for me to leave, and come to VT.
