Visiting Oct 4th Weekend ....

My wife and I are visiting in the OCt 4th weekend. How would White River Junction be to stay? Its been very difficult to get any accomodation anywhere in the hill country.<P>We do plan to cover Ludlow, Montpelier, Groton State Park areas.<P>how would be the fall in New Hamshire around the same time??

Yeah, rooms are getting hard to find. White River has some places to stay, but you may want to try Killington also. Ski areas have the most lodging. You're going to be at the bottom of the better foliage. You'll have to go north from route US 4 to find good foliage. Right now route 12 and 14 above Montpelier are showing good early color. If you do come to Montpelier, come to 134 State Street near the Capitol to our welcome center and we can give you more information.

This can be a challenging time to find the best lodging. Try widening your area a little A little South of WRJ is the Okemo valley Regoin (Ludlow and Chester) with several good inns that may still have availability. Generally you wil find the best lodging in Vermont around the ski areas.
