PLEASE HELP!! October 16-20
My wife and I usually come to Vermont every Fall (and this forum has been our guide!) but this year we have to be in Boston the weekend of October 14 and 15 and will have the next week off to see the foliage (October 16-20). It seems like this is too late for Vermont this year--can you all help us figure out where to go from Boston? We are at a total loss outside of Vermont! Thanks so much for the help this year and in the past!
Re: PLEASE HELP!! October 16-20
Many trees in NW CT have brown leaf spot and the leaves are just turning brown and falling off. We usually have peak color around Oct. 14th, but I think this year it will be rather subdued. We drove North on 91 (exit 16) to our Corinth, VT place this past week (Sept. 21-27), also lots of dull yellow and brown, with a few pretty red maples. I am doubtful if we will see lots of the typical brilliant colors this year. Unfortunately, this is not just a small localized area, it seems to be wide spread through out the Northeast due to the wet Spring. It will certainly be better than last year, but not a stellar year.

Either the Brattleboro or Bennington areas would be you best chance at that time. The Berkshires in Western Mass. is suppose to be good, but I've never been there in the fall, so I can't saw how good. I have been to the Catskills in NY in the fall many years ago and enjoyed it.

Thanks so much for the help! Maybe we'll try a couple nights in the Berkshires. Thanks again--if anyone has any ideas of places to stay or updates on color for that week, I'd love to hear 'em. Thanks again!

Hi, we will be driving from NW CT, going North on Route 7 to I-90 and then North on I-91 to exit 16, East Corinth to East Orange Village and to our Corinth place up that gravel road (Maplewood Road) above the village/church, later this week. I will report back when we return. The weather forecast is spectacular for Thursday-Sunday (Oct. 5-8). We like to listen to Roger Hill's weather reports on WDEV www.wdevradio.com His is an excellent meteorologist and you can hear his reports approx. 10-14 min. past the hour 6AM, 7AM and 8AM.
