Oct 5th - 8th
Hello All,
My Wife & daughter are making our 3rd annual run to your beautiful state (from PA) next week & was hoping for some advice. We have a room in Arlington for the first night & then in Killington for the others. I'm thinking colors could be early south & was wondering if going to Barre (can still find a room or two there) might put us in better foliage. Also, I've never been to the Peacham area & would like to get there either this year or next. My daughter heard about the corn maze in Danville. Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated. I too, am an avid amature photographer. Thanks much & bring on the fall!!!

There may be some good early color in the mountain area east of Arlington. Routes 9, 30, and 100 would be the best bets. If you can get a room in Barre that might be better. The Corn Maze in Danville is huge. It's on the Tampico Road above North Danville. Take route US 2 to the flashing yellow light in Danville and take the Bruce Badger Memorial Highway to North Danville. The Tampico RD is on the left just past the bridge.

If you cut across route 11 and make a left onto Landgrove Road, it will empty out into the town of Weston and route 100.(On your way to Killington)It features fantastic scenery and meadows, and probably the best color right now in Southern Vermont. Or. If your traveling due East on Route 11, stop by at Rowell's Inn, and I'll be happy to give you a Historical Tour. We are on Route 11, halfway between Chester and Londonderry. Happy viewing.

Thanks PWT & Michael. I've been on parts of route 100 & will probably go that way to Killington area u& then up to Danville. Will definately do the corn maze, (I think I have to) so those diretions are appreciated. I believe we'll head towards the Barre area after the first night, but might go the Kelly Stand road over to route 100 (mentioned in Middleton's book) - just hope there is color there. This site is a wealth of information and is appreciated maybe more than you know by us out of state peepers. Thanks much!!
