Hello everyone! As you can see by my name, I am not from your neck of the woods, but I do appreciate the opportunity to communicate with you in this forum!!! All my life I have wanted to visit the New England area and finally my dream is coming true. My wife and I are scheduled to fly into Burlington Vt on 10-6-05 and drive to Stowe. Our time there is from 10-06 until 10-09. Although I realize it is not possible at this time to know exactly when the leaves will be at their peak, what do you think our chances for seeing good color on those dates will be, and knowing absolutely nothing about your part of the country, have we chosen a good location for our fall vacation? Any feedback you can give me will be appreciated, and once again, thank you for allowing me to address your forum!

Re: stowe-best time?
Peak foliage will be near the end in Stowe at that time, but you will be less than an hour from the peak area. Peak should be south of Stowe around the route US 4 corridor and south of there. I would take route 100 south from Stowe to route US 4 and take route US 4 east to Woodstock and check out that area. Route 100 is a great ride even without peak colors. If you happen to take route 100 south from route US 4 to Ludlow, stop at the Green Mountain Maple Sugarhouse and get a maple Cree-mee(soft serve ice cream). They are great! Ask the locals about the foliage. They will know.

Thanks for the info, it is much appreciated. We will definately take the route you suggested, after all; Ireally like the sound of that maple Cree-mee!! Thanks again.
