Where to go to see peak foliage the weekend of 10/12
Where to go to see the peak colors coming weekend. Can you please specify some towns. Can you also please suggest some mountain views, lakes, covered bridges, scenic drives, waterfalls, scenic overlooks etc. for the weekend of 10/12 in VT. We are planning to go to Stratton mountain for a gondola ride. Will that be still at peak color or past peak? TIA

Here is a link to the mid-mountain can at Stratton. It look like peak right now to slightly past peak. There's 1" of rain forecast for today, so that might remove a bit of the foliage.
Going forward a coastal storm is forecast for midweek, but it's unclear as to how much effect it will have on S. Vermont.
Good luck.

Yeah, looks a bit past. White Mountains might still be good for this weekend.

I'm thinking about heading up to Mt Greylock next weekend, but I haven't had any luck with good colored foliage in that location the past two years. Massachusetts in general has done poorly in regards to Fall foliage lately.

So you guys are suggesting not to go to VT at all? I really want to go to VT this weekend. I am hoping at least a few areas to have nice colors. But can't decide where exactly to go. Need help with that from the experts. How about Burlington, Bennigton?
Re: Where to go to see peak foliage the weekend of 10/12
You mentioned that you were going to Stratton this weekend and I posted a webcam link. Follow that along this week to see if foliage color remains. It's hard to tell what the foliage will look like 5 days from now. You might want to go to the Bennington area and maybe Route 7 North. The foliage in Vermont is about 7-10 days early with peak this year. If anyplace will have peak foliage remaining this weekend, it will be valley locations.

Hey Krishna,
Last year on 10/13-10/14 I found near peak conditions in Manchester, and peak condition and vibrant colors in Rutland. The hills around Rutland in particular were amazing. Equinox pond was also at peak. However, last year foliage was a week late, while this year it was a week early in the NEK, while probably it is just on schedule in the rest of VT.
We were actually lodging in Bennington, that went from mostly green to near peak all in one night after a frost, on 10/15.
Hope this helps.

Also which are the towns in valley location?

Bennington, Manchester, Rutland, Middlebury, Burlington. The Route 7 corridor.

I'm heading up to Mt Greylock on Sunday if the weather is good. I'll post a report.
Re: Where to go to see peak foliage the weekend of 10/12
I was on I-89 between Richmond and Montpelier today and the colors are coming along nice on the hillsides through Bolton, Waterbury, Middlesex. Looks like they are still a few days from peak so I would think they will look great this weekend. Steady rain all day, but it wasn't really hard, and there was little wind.

It looks like Stratton is past peak after the rain.

Thank you for the update. I think all mountains in VT will be past peak now right? Do you think if there will be at least one mountain with gondola ride will have some color left by Friday? Somebody suggested Mt. Tabor( don't remember if it was you or someone else).I don't there is gondola ride available for Mt. Tabor though.am planning to come on Thursday and stay for the night and drive around on Friday in search of peak foliage. Wish me luck!
