Rt. 232 & Owls Head
Took a drive down Rt232 today with a stop at Owls Head. The upper or northern portion of the Rt is a little past peak, but the overlook was still beautiful. A lot of leaf drop on the southern portion and around Ricker Pond. All in all still a beautiful drive.

Re: Rt. 232 & Owls Head
At noon on Wednesday, the gate to Owl's Head was locked! I'm too old to clamber up the road to the parking lot, so we just had to move on. Very disappointed in the Park people!

It may have something to do with the parks going into off-season mode after Columbus Day weekend. Typically, the foliage is long gone in Groton by now.
That said, someone should really be opening that gate. Owl's Head is one of the most heavily promoted foliage viewing spots in the state.
