Foliage Trip Oct 7-11

Been to New England several times but want to see peak color. Middlebury on 7th, Woodstock on 8th and 9th, and Manchester on 10th. Driving to Albany to fly home on 11th. Need comments on time as well as folliage and sightseeing suggestions, and restureants. Dates are for overnights. Help a Southerner please PS Got accomadions already

Middlebury will have good color east of there. Rosie's restuarant south of Middlebury on route US 7 seems to be very popular. I'd take route 125 east from East Middlebury over to route 100 in Hancock. You go up the mountain and then back down. look for a sign that says Texas Falls in Hancock. The road is about 500 feet past the sign and on the left side. Check it out. Go back to route 125 and turn left and finish 125 to the end at route 100. Turn right and drive route 100 south to route US 4 and turn left. Drive route US 4 east to Woodstock. Colors should peak near peak in the Woodstock area at the time you are there. Check in and relax. If it's too early, pick up route 12 north off Main Street and go to the Billings Farm Museum. To get to Manchester, take route US 4 west to route 100A south in Plymouth. At the end of route 100A turn left for route 100 south. Drive that to route 103 and turn left to get to Ludlow. In Ludlow pick up route 100 south again on the right and drive that to Londonderry and turn right. Drive through the village and then go straight at the "Y" for route 11 west to Manchester. If it's early again drive route 7A south and look for the Skyline Drive to the top of Mt. Equinox. It's paved to the top and worth the toll.

If you don't mind a comment from someone who lives in California, I'd like to add that I recently took that route over the Middlebury Gap...Rt.125, and enjoyed stopping and walking the short 1 mile loop (The Robert Frost Interpretive Trail) near Breadloaf - about 7 miles after you get on Rt.125. Great views! Also...3 of us ate a great breakfast at Rosie's for under $10.00 (18% tip included)!

Mellow, on the 9th go the apple and craft fair in Woodstock, after that drive to the Queechee Gorge. It will be ALIVE with colors that weekend, thats if everything falls into place, which seems to be happening.
