Lewis Pond overlook?
We've done a lot of dirt road driving in NEK and Danville area over the years, looking for native orchids in the summer and foliage in the fall.
We've never been to Lewis Pond road and overlook, it sounds GREAT!!
We are going up Thur & Fri. the 8th is that too late?

It might be a bit past peak, but there should still be a lot of color left. More yellows than red and orange. You add the view to the colors and it will be worth it. We had yucky weather the day we were therebut we still spent an hour there. The view reminds me of the views on the Blue Ridge Parkway.

Thanks will let you know how it is. We love the views on the Blue Ridge Parkway also. We love so many areas up there in northern VT. The first year we just stumbled onto King George Road was unbelieveablely BEAUTIFUL FOLIAGE! We keep going back but it's never been as as nice as that 1st year. We always take the Hinton Ridge road from 5A to 114, beautiful view of Willoughby Lake.pwt54 wrote:It might be a bit past peak, but there should still be a lot of color left. This forum is GREAT, planning our trips is almost as much fun as going.

--I was in South Carolina/North Carolina border area Nov 1st thru Nov 6th last year and the colors were impressive for that area --many intense yellows some bright oranges--was in Tryon NC--many mountain roads were thickly forested with yellow and green, always a nice combinationpwt54 wrote:I did the Parkway late last Oct between Roanoke and Buena Vista, VA and the colors in the James River Valley were stunning.
RK; I did the Parkway on Oct 28 and the colors were great where the maples were able to compete with the oaks. The oaks dominate the forests down there. I did the Parkway near Asheville and the Smokies on Oct 14 and 15. The colors were early down in the lowlands but near peak above 3,000 feet. I wish my sister had moved to Asheville instead of Florida.
