Re: Killington this weekend
I am in Killington now- Colors in the immediate Killington area are still changing and nice. Route 4 east of Killngton to Bridgewater has some very nice color with bright reds/oranges- traveling west (back to Killgton today) was very nice in the late afternoon. Route 100A and 100 SOUTH of Killington...

Re: woodstock
I drove through Woodstock yesterday- the color is nice, but there are some bare trees in that area. I drove down route 100A today- GREAT color- route 100 south of 4 to Ludlow is also looking very nice and there is good color in the Killington region. Although there are some bear tress in areas, the ...

VT Route 4 Rutland to NH
I drove across Route 4 (rutland-killington-woodstock-quechee)last night and the color is looking pretty good- not peak, but looks like it will approach peak this coming weekend. It does look like there are some leaves down on some of the stressed/roadside trees, but there is still a LOT of leaves le...

Re: Nervous about missing foliage in Stowe Oct 11-15
I've been doing an annual VT trek for the past 10 or so years - and my trip is always for 10 or so days in the first 2 weeks of October. Around mid-September I start worrying that I might "miss" the leaves, peak, etc. The good news is this: I've never been disappointed in what I find in VT. Although...

Re: Dream Vacation
Congratulations on your retirement! I am sure that many people will chime in with ideas and suggestions. I've spent many years in search of the "must see", "must photograph" VT scenes, however many of my best pictures are from exploring back roads, small towns, etc. In my opinion, VT offers many opp...

Re: Dining Suggestions
For family oriented/kid friendly in Ludlow, I've had good meals at Sam's Steakhouse (great salad bar) and the Pot Belly (varied menu with lots of choices!) The Hatchery servese the best breakfast in town! For something more intimate, the Echo Lake Inn is on route 100 a few miles north of Ludlow. I'v...

Re: Dining Suggestions
If you don't mind traveling a bit beyond Woodstock (heading west and/or south)you may want to consider the following: the LongTrail Brewery is located at the corner of route 4 and 100A. They have some excellent "pub food" and serve until late afternoon. For breakfast, lunch or dinner meals Ludlow (1...

Re: NY state
I live in NYS and the foliage is nowhere near as beautiful as VT... the finger lakes area is nice, but the color is not as intense or as wide spread. Some of the state parks (i.e. Letchworth) can be very colorful toward the end of October.
Given a choice between NY and VT foliage, I'd chose VT!

Re: North to South Oct. 2-7
While the Northeast Kingdom is very nice, there is a lot to see in/near the Killington area. Woodstock is just a short drive and a lovely town to visit for an afternoon. For a short (and very direct)drive to Woodstock, you can just take route 4. For something more scenic try this: route 100 south th...

Hi Deb- If you like birds then you may want to plan a visit to the Vermont Raptor Center- they offer rehab for injured birds and also have a "live" educational program/show several times a day. The center was recently re-built and is on Route 4, a few miles east of Woodstock (and before Quechee). Yo...

Re: Looking for some assistance.........
We have stayed in that same area for the past 5 years. Last year, we were graced with a huge bull moose who appeared in the early morning -right in our backyard on 100A. There is also another nearby spot for moose- From Coolidge, take route 100 South and turn left (at the Echo Inn) onto Tyson-Readin...

Re: Foliage for Oct. 16th-21st
www.cyberrentals.com has a LOT of rental listings for VT and I've had good experiences in renting from people who list their properties with them.
good luck!
